1. It is the policy of HiB to conduct all business activities in a responsible manner which ensures the Health, Safety and wellbeing of people as well as the preservation of the environment. Our ethical business practices form an integral part of our corporate culture.
  1. HiB Limited (The Company) accepts its legal responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 together with associated legislation and Codes of Practices etc. It gives its full commitment to doing everything reasonably practicable to protect the Health, Safety and Welfare of all its employees and other persons whose Health and Safety may be affected by the Company’s Business.
  1. It is the policy of HiB Limited in sofar as is reasonably practicable:-
  • To provide and maintain machinery, equipment and systems of work that are safe and without risks to health.
  • To ensure safety and the absence of risks to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances.
  • To provide sources of health and safety information and assistance as required.
  • To provide as required such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary for the health and safety at  work of all employees.
  • To provide safe means of access and egress in a condition that is safe and without risk to health and to provide appropriate welfare facilities.
  • To provide identification and assessments of all risks and hazards and to eliminate or control the risks as appropriate and to provide safe systems of work.
  • To provide for the development and maintenance of arrangements for controlling health and safety issues. In addition, through effective consultation at all levels, provide a means of re-enforcing the joint responsibilities of the company, employees and others in relation to health and safety matters.
  • To comply with or exceed, our statutory legal requirements as a minimum standard of health, safety and welfare following applicable codes of practice and standards.
  • To ensure that the responsibilities of management are clearly assigned at all levels and that their health, safety and welfare roles are defined.
  • To ensure that the Company’s Pro-active approach will recognise the link between efficiency and safety and health and will attempt to minimise the costs, losses and disruption, which arise from accidents, ill health and dangerous occurrences.
  • To ensure that employees are aware that they have a statutory responsibility to work safely and to co-operate with the Company and its representatives in all matters that affect their health, safety and welfare at work.
  1. In addition to the above, HiB are committed to minimise its impact on the environment caused by the companies’ activities. Usingthe Carbon Footprint Calculator from the Carbon Trust we have calculated that in 2008/9 we produced 220 tonnes of co2. Our aim is to reduce that figure by 10% through measures set out in our Mission Statement. As a company, we have a policy of Reduce, Re-use and Recycle, we estimate that by using these methods, as little as 20% of the waste we produce end up in land-fill. Through ongoing evaluation and education we aim to reduce this figure further still.
  1. The Company will ensure that there are adequate financial, human and other resources made available for the effective implementation of this policy. Proper procedures will be established and maintained to monitor health and safety performance in a planned manner with good communication and co-ordination at all levels.
  1. The Health and Safety control measures will be brought to the attention of all employees whether permanent, temporary, on training, agency and / or fixed term contracts.
  1. The Health and Safety Policy General Statement and associated section will be reviewed and updated as circumstances change. However, as a minimum the Policy etc. will be reviewed on an annual basis. ­­
